LAWNDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICTDepartment of Human ResourcesJob DescriptionSPEECH & LANGUAGE SPECIALISTADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS:The Speech & Language Specialist is a certificated position directly responsible to the site administrator(s). Evaluation is the responsibility of the site principal with consideration given to observations performed by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:The Speech & Language Specialist is responsible for the following:?Assess the speech and language needs of pupils to design and implement appropriate remediation and instructional plans and strategies. E?Provide remedial speech and language services for pupils who meet eligibility criteria. E?Provide an educational environment which establishes, maintains, and re-enforces appropriate pupil behavior, attitudes and social skills. E?Provide a variety of educational and remedial experiences based on an objective-oriented format to stimulate an interest in speech and language remediation. E?Maintain variety of pupil records, including anecdotal records for each pupil who outlines their speech and language program, objectives and instructional activities, and the expected result of the individualized education program. E?Counsel students, parents and other professional and paraprofessional personnel regarding the social, emotional and educational needs of the pupils within the speech and language programs as assigned. E?Collaborate in planning and implementing a comprehensive language program in cooperation with regular and special education teachers and staff incorporating core curriculum and involving staff and parents in the process of remediation. E?Perform related duties as assigned.LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:?Must hold a California credential authorizing service as a Remedial Speech specialist, such as the Exceptional Child-Speech Hearing Credential, Standard Credential with specialization in the speech and Hearing Service, Restricted Speech Hearing Credential or Clinical Services Rehabilitation Credential.?Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with professionals and paraprofessional personnel in carrying out an effective instructional or remediation program for speech and language pupils.?Must possess knowledge of recent educational and remediation trends related to the speech and language handicapped.?Must have available private transportation.WORKING CONDITIONS:ENVIRONMENT: Indoor environment.PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Hearing and speaking to exchange information in a designated second language, standing for extended periods of time, bending at the waist and kneeling or crouching to provide assistance, and seeing to read and score tests and monitor testing activities.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
